Q & A at Brent Council

We have arranged this Q & A Session at Brent Council. This is an excellent opportunity to ask senior officers (Chief Executive, Assistant Chief Executive, Strategic Director of Regeneration and Growth, Strategic Director of Adult Social Care, Strategic Director of Environment and Neighbourhood Services) and the Leader of the council, questions on their new budget and working with the voluntary and community sector.

Brent Social Mobility Commission Report Launch

The event launches the findings of the Social Mobility Commission. It will feature guest speakers including Commission Chair and former employment minister Lord Jim Knight.
This independent commission has been conducting an investigation into the factors and circumstances which influence local people’s life chances and the actions that public services can take to create local opportunities and improve lives. Please click here to register.

Brent Connects area forum – the council’s local community meetings – are under way. These forums are designed to help residents understand council policies and what these mean for the delivery of local services. They also give residents the opportunity to meet and voice their concerns to local councillors and partner agencies of the council. The forums also provide an opportunity to have your say via the soapbox.
The current round of forums include a discussion about the format of future forum meetings.

Brent LSCB Vacancy for Lay Member
Brent Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) is responsible for overseeing how agencies work together to safeguard children and young people in Brent.

Techy Tea Party

A Techy Tea Party has been organised by Age UK London, open mainly to representatives working with minority older people. Staff of EE would be available at the session helping people to learn more about their digital equipment, such as a smart phone or tablet or other digital technology. Just bring your gadget along.

Food Sustainability Workshops for Young People

Young people aged 16-25 years are invited to attend 3 workshops on food sustainability. Delivered by Sufra NW London, the workshops are about ensuring that the food we grow, buy and eat preserves the environment. The workshops will include a visit to an organic farm and a behind-the-scenes tour of a supermarket. Travel expenses will be reimbursed and there will be plenty of food treats.
